Owner
In 1995 Beat Musfeld visited South Africa and fell in love with the country. Due to his keen interest in wine, he and his wife, Heidi, decided in 1997 to buy Onderkloof.
The farm’s production was originally mainly grapes and milk. However, in 1999 Onderkloof produced its first vintage in the newly built wine cellar.
General Manager - Winemaker
In January 2012 the owner’s son, Yves Musfeld, became the Head Winemaker at Onderkloof. At the age of 16, Yves started an apprenticeship, which lasted for three years, in a Swiss wine cellar.
He was also assistant winemaker during numerous harvests in a variety of countries such as Switzerland, South Africa, Spain and the USA. He studied Viticulture and Winemaking at The University of Geisenheim in Germany and finished his studies as Bachelor in Science.
